My First Experiences with Japanese
こんばんは、みんなさん!
So far, Japanese class has been wonderful. Although I've studied Japanese a bit on my own previously, I've never had a chance to speak it with other people in a conversational setting. Even though we have just done greetings so far, the prospect that we will soon be communicating in more complex ways is an exciting one.
I chose to study Japanese simply because I have always found the language interesting. The writing looks beautiful, and the sound of it is expressive. In addition, the culture of Japan is a vibrant one, with so many fascinating and intricate aspects. I would love to visit Japan some day to experience the culture and the language firsthand.
The thing that I am finding most challenging so far is the speaking aspect. In high school, I took four years of Latin, which of course is not a spoken language. Because of this, I have never had experience speaking a language besides my native English. But because of this, speaking is also one of the parts of learning Japanese that I am most excited about, and cannot wait to learn more of.
I am definitely looking forward to the weeks ahead and to learning more of such an interesting language.
